Oz Vision

Hi All,
Very new to the world of Visions. Bought this one on impulse about 3 months ago, but didn't know what I really had until afterwards. After spending some time reading this forum, the feeling was a mixture of excitement and fear, but now it's more excitement after registering and riding it. Only had to replace fork seals for rego, but have also checked the clutch bolts (already peened) and replaced the brake rod bolts. Have ordered a switch for the fan (is running too hot) and a digital voltmeter. It appears that I have the predictable stator problem, bike has done 33,000 klm (20,000 miles). I have only ridden it for 100 kilometres and it is slowly discharging - yes the white stator wires do go to earth. After reading all the info here I have emailed Tim Parrott re cost of shipping one of his to Oz. Will check out local options as well. Comments about OEM stators have been noted! Think I will also relocate the R/R as has been done by several visionaries. I look forward to learning lots and contributing what I can.

Ello m8 and welcome from a pom

fret not

Oz V, there are a lot of bikes that use the same stator, well same but different length of leads coming out of the case.  Easy enough to adapt and much easier to find a replacement.

My feeling regarding the charging system is that you need a healthy battery and a good Reg/Rectifier.
Make sure ALL your connections are clean and making electrical contact.
Check the eviltwinsbk site regarding charging systems and reg/rec replacements.  MOS/FET unit is much more reliable and runs much cooler.  I got one on eBay for about $40 with shipping.  Read the section, you will be both educated and glad you did.
Retired, on the downhill slide. . . . . . . . still feels like going uphill!

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming HOOOOYA lets go again baby !!!!!!
