I'm back and need some help.

So after sitting on my arse for 2 years i finally took a hammer to it again and the fly wheel came off this morning.  Sure enough the starter clutch is cracked.  The tin shroud is hammered but the brass piece appears to be intact.  Am I better off just buying a new one or does someone have one kicking around they'd like to sell?

i should have moved this to tech but oh well.  Am I correct in that the xz550 and vmax share the same starter clutch?   11H-15580-00-00 is the part number i'm coming up with.

If both use the same part number , then they would be the same. Try looking it up on Bike Bandit and compare.

Yeah, Ron Ayers site is handy to reverse look up part numbers to see where they are used on other models.  That's how I found the information regarding the cross utilization between the XZ and the VMax among others.

Zore, check the surfaces where the rollers ride on the starter gear.  Look for any ripples like mini washboard, if there are any you should change that gear too or likely be doing this again soon.

I took a look at the starter gear and is a little rippled.  Unfortunately I don't see them available anymore from yamaha so it will have to do.  I received the starter clutch and will install it this weekend.
