I should have posted a long time ago but kept putting it off.
We had a dismal turnout(quantity) for CROV but had a great time riding (quality).

Vic and Chet arrived Friday and we did an evening run up Fiddletown Road and back down Ram's Horn Grade to Volcano. Then Volcano-Sutter Creek Rd to Sutter Creek where we had dinner and brewskis at the Palace. The Palace is a fine establishment and provides seat belts for the bar stools so you don't injure yourself from an unintended fall. It was after dark when we left, and Vic's headlight was out, so Chet and I ran front and back escort the ten miles back to Plymouth on the secondary route.
Saturday morning we met Motoracer at Irene's for a great breakfast. I didn't know of this restaraunt but, apparently it is a popular meeting and grazing spot for all sorts of motor vehilce travelers. We departed Irene's and headed north on 49 for Placerville. After the obligatory wandereing about the confusing streets there, we found our way to 178 down into the American River Canyon and up the other side to Georgetown. We went right through, and up Wentworth Springs road where we took our first break at Stumpy Meadows reservoir.
We continued up Wentworth Springs road, which is magically smooth with great turns, and took a diversion up to Loon Lake. This is in the high sierra and is an access point to the Rubicon Trail. We reversed course and traveled down Ice House Rd  back to Highway 50. This section is popular with the sport bikers for good reason.
At 50 we turned towards Tahoe for about 15 miles to Kyburz, where we piced up the crystal Fork Rd which took us back up to Hwy 88 and the Bear River reservoir overlook, where we took a break.
We returned down hwy 88 to the Shake Ridge turnoff and down Shake Ridge to Fiddletown Rd., which took us back to our starting point. about a 175 mile loop.It was getting hot as we come into the lower elevations so we took a long water break at the local gas-mart, before Chet, Vic and I went to the local mexican restaraunt for margueritas and enchiladas and motoracer headed for home.
It was a good day and thanks to the guys for showing up and preserving the brand.
Motoracer gets my vote for the best prepared Vision. Chrome and paint look brand new.
My Vision started making some noise in the rear end (bearings?) so I;ll have to check that out this winter.
Vic demonstrated his theory aobut stator overheating by puring water on my side case, which boiled vigorously on the stator side but not on the clutch side. He thinks more heat sink is the answer.
It was good timing for the ride since the weather has turned wet and cool since. Sorry if you couldn't make it.
Ya'll come out next year, yahear!

I was going to tell you it was a Hank Snow song before Johnny Cash sung it, Wikipedia says it was originally an Aussie song written by Geoff Mack in 1959.    BDC

Sorry I missed it Meister.

fret not

Got in a late fall ride today up HWY. 49 past North San Juan and around through Oregon House and  Brown's Valley to HWY 20.  The road surfaces can be damp and greasy looking in the places the sunshine doesn't hit, but mostly the roads were in pretty good condition.  It gets spooky when there road signs stating "ICY", but there was no ice today.  Beautiful scenery in the foothills of the Sierra as they flow down into the central valley.  Only put on 120 miles but it was a nice ride through varying and interesting terrain.
Retired, on the downhill slide. . . . . . . . still feels like going uphill!

Mike, I've been In Arizona working all of January, weathers been so nice here and no motorcycle, 60's and 70's every day, I'll need a fix soon.

So, Ken, when will you be back in the Sacramento area?  We seem to get a nice week or two in February before it turns back to winter again, maybe it will happen again this year.   The guys I ride with are all retired and like to go in the middle of the week so they don't have to contend with all  the weekend traffic.  Are you available mid week?  Being self employed I can take time off if there is nothing pressing in my shop.  Retirement is elusive at this point, plus it gains 8% for each year I wait, up to a point.

Its been nice (60F) here for the last couple days, chilly in the mornings but no frost last night.  Spring is definitely on the way.

Mike, I'll be back the first part of Feb. for a couple of weeks, then back to AZ. at least through May as it gets too hot here and all the snow birds escape to cooler climes, things will slow down and I will be able to come back home. I'll send you an E when I'm home mabe we can get together for a ride or coffee or something.

Yah I'm suppose to be retired with a part time job, but I think my Employer has forgoten that.

Got to get away today for a ride! ;D  Left Auburn on Hwy. 49 to Cool, to Georgetown, to Placerville and a round about loop back to Auburn.  It was 60F or about 15 Canadian by the early afternoon.  Frosty earlier.    Only a 90 mile jaunt but the roads were pretty nice and the only snow we saw was on the high Sierra many miles away.  Quite a pretty view.

Motoracer8 Ken, are you back to the area yet?  If the weather holds maybe we could go next week.

Re-Vision

Anyone know how to post a .wmv, the one below was about a guy touring Texas on a BMW and singing "I've been everywhere". It was rather  good from a Lone Star viewpoint.
