How many miles on the engine... any history on the bike and how you got your hands on it?

Motor's got about 9000 miles on it, the speedo was broken by the P.O, at 8500 miles, but he only had the bike 2 months and when he bought it it had 8200 miles, now showing 8500.  Bought it for 400 bucks because the guy was hard-up for rent money and going thru a divorce.  My dad found the bike through a mutual friend and we both went out and looked at it.  He actually rode it home, about an hour ride, and all he could say was "that little bike will scat"....  Put new tires on it soon after I bought it, other than a few trips up to the corner store, its been sitting ever since.
