My daughter's boyfriend was having the same issue where it would rev to 9000 rpm's at 100 klms.Then the bike would die.I jumped on it lastnight and immediately noticed the clutch was too tight and not disengaging.A quick adjustment and we rode for another 6 hours with no issues.

I had a similar problem on mine - it was driving me nuts.  Three cleanings of the carb didn't fix it, and the vacuum system was 100% airtight.  It fixed itself when I replaced the fuel hose and in-line filter.  The fuel hose was collapsing a little where it did a 90degree turn into the petcock so either that kink stopped it passing enough fuel at WOT or the in-line filter was getting clogged.
