The guy I bought my V from let it sit in his barn for 9 years. Because of that, the windshield is smoky/yellowed and a little scratched. Any suggestions on how to restore it? Thanks!

headlight lense restoration kit.   you might have to start more agressively with fine wet/dry sandpaper & work up to the kit

From my rebuild: "polishing the windscreen and making a minor modification to the under-dash electrical system. I used a kit I had at the hangar called "Micro-mesh" which includes a series of polishing sheets and some compound. It did a fairly good job of removing the yellow hazing, but I think I need to go back and redo some of the finer sheets to remove the fine scratches. "

As this is not really a 'look through' windshield, I took the easy route... ;D

I sparingly used veeeery fine wet and dry on the underside of the windshield, washed it off and when completely dry I layered three fine coats of Satin Black paint on it....VOILA!!!

That was several years and several thousand kilometers ago and it still looks as good as the day it was done 8)

I spent hours on mine working up though the finest grits of sheet abrasives, and several different kinds of polish, including the 3 step Novus series.  To quite a degree it got rid of they yellowing, but  still, the results were not what I hoped for.  The surface is highly polished but the windshield still has a haziness to it.  Looking at it up close it looks like there is a crazing that runs through the full thickness of the material.  No amount of sanding and polishing is going to get rid of it.

I followed Tiger's advice on painting the windshield and really like the way it looks.     BDC

I had the crazing on mine and even painting it looked terrible.
I bought a new one from godiva.co.nz  It wasn't outrageously priced - and they ship to Armenia

It's code 8650.  He has it listed as XJ 500/550, Year: 1981-83, Rrp: $165 ($NZ)

You who painted your windshields, could you post a picture? Thanks!

I did something different as my fairing had no windshield,  I went and bought some SOLLID BLACK Lexan and cut one from it.  Also I made mine a few inches taller.  You can see it in my avatar pic.
Keep it upright and she'll always be happy!
