Why the feck is plastic welding so bloomin' expensive? Got a quote to weld up some cracks/breaks and fab small section on my Triumph Daytona fairings - $700NZ. Bought a handheld plastic welder on aliexpress.com for $150US. So as long as it turns up in the post I will be able to repair my fairings much cheaper as well as all the other stuff (I can think of at least 3 other jobs). The process looks very easy (youtube), the gun works by melting the base material and filler rod with a jet of hot air. If it goes well I'll put up a photo or two. If any locals want something welded let me know, I'll look after you.  ;)
You like, oui?

fret not

In the guitar making business we always recommend 'testing on scrap' before risking your valuable parts.

I would think it good to know what sort of plastic your subject parts are made from (ABS, PVC, PET, or other) for workability and compatibility sake.
Retired, on the downhill slide. . . . . . . . still feels like going uphill!

The Prophet of Doom

Cool, I've got a set of Krauser luggage with quake damage that needs welding so I can sell it.
