I am trying to figure what this attachment was for. it must be aftermarket US, the forward tube piece has 3/8 threads on the left side while the right has a 9/16 hex. I know I'm not explaining well. the tube in front of motor has a flat bar that goes straight up behind fairing and attaches to fairing support tubing with a u-bolt. zoom in on pic I tried to highlight piece with a red circle. could it have been for a bottom fairing?

The fact that is has Standard (3/8" and 9/16") dimensions on a Japanese bike:  someone hacked some crap onto your bike.

Agreed I have a pretty un-hacked on bike and that's not there.

Curious indeed.  You do know that some people will do some very unusual things for what they consider to be 'very good reasons'.
