Chat works fine here, it just times out and stops responding if I don't say anything for a couple hours.
Rider1>No wonder, the Daytona has very sharp steering and aggressive geometry.  It's a very difficult bike for a new rider.
Rider2>Well it has different geometry now.

I use mozilla (same as firefox, but the complete suite not just the browser) and marquees and chat both work perfect for me
Hey honey, uh, I got another vision... HONEY??? Oh yea, thats right she moved out...

Extent

I should clarify, marquees work, but animated gifs put in marquees just don't show up.

And i know you all say it's faster, but for me this site is c-r-a-w-l-i-n-g...  i've checked all my settings & done all my maintanence, no improvement, & it's just this site, anywhere else i visit is as quick as ever...

Frustrating

Oh & Boss man, the Visions on the General page were cool, (that are now diamonds to notify you of new posts on the topic) why'd you take 'em away?

Just on a hunch Lucky, try turning of the display of avatars in your profile and see if that speeds things up any.  If they're not caching properly there are still some multi-megabyte avatar images out there.

yes you're right Extent, there are still a few large pictures that
you have to wait for when this page is loading.

here is one:
http://www3.telus.net/public/dale9999/misc/Drift.gif its over 200k

and Lucky, turning off avatars and signatures will speed it up a bit.

I picked a random page and ran some stats on them from both sites.
old site: random page
Download Times*
Connection Rate   Download Time
14.4K    118.14 seconds
28.8K    59.07 seconds
33.6K    50.63 seconds
56K    30.38 seconds
ISDN 128K    9.30 seconds
T1 1.44Mbps    0.81 seconds

new site: same page

Download Times*
Connection Rate   Download Time
14.4K    83.85 seconds
28.8K    42.02 seconds
33.6K    36.05 seconds
56K    21.71 seconds
ISDN 128K    6.79 seconds
T1 1.44Mbps    0.77 seconds

not a huge difference but definitely faster.
a big part of the speed is the number and size of the images contained in it.
also, once the header downloads to your browser cache,  forum page
loads should be quite fast.
what do you have your browser cache set to  ? it should be at least
16megs but probably not larger than 32.
check for new page should be set to automatic in IE

page loads in IE and firefox both take maybe 1-2 seconds at most.
I think firefox may be a tad slower
try clearing your browser cache and defrag your hard drive etc.

oh, the little vision pictures ? I wasn't that happy with them basically.
they are supposed to tell you when there are new messages but the
key is shown in little diamonds and I couldn't shrink them any more
without it looking really funky.
I may put them back but I'm looking for ways to shrink the graphics
because you were compaining about the speed.....

Ya the drifting one is pretty big, but that's on the smaller size of the big ones.  I don't remember who it was, but one of them is over 2 meg, even at 75 x 75  :o

I've tried all those things, killed thes, cleared the cache, etc.
Hey, give me a page somewhere that you feels loads slow, let me see what happens...
