Can anybody suggest a good clearcoat for the crankcases?  Now that I've got them all purdy I'd like to keep them somewhat tarnish free.  Don't know if I need some sort of heat resistant clear or if regular clearcoats will work.

I have used Plasti-kote clear hi-temp on mine. BUT it gets a bit soft the first few heat cycles. I has not yellowed yet. I have had bad results with Duplicolor paints...so I stay away from all their stuff.
looks aren't important, if she lets you play by your rules

They will all yellow over time, riding in rain or going to  the carwash, the motor is hot.   The coating will color. I perfer to leave my metal bare.

Its the sun's UV rays that yellow the clearcoat, if you only put three coats on you shouldnt have too much of a problem with yellowing (i don't know how thick a coat is but thats what we were told) in oz the sun can be pretty harsh, especially in tasmania where the ozone layer has dissapeared.
