Thanks, Tiger - great post for your 1,000th!

kia - if I wasn't rapidly approaching real life "geezer" status, I might resent the 'geriatric' comment.   :D

If you have an accident on a motorcycle, it's always your fault. Tough call, but it has to be that way. You're in the right, and dead -on a bike. The principle is not to have any accident. If you're involved in an an accident, it's because you did not anticipate. Then, by default, you failed.

Yup, 2000 will be quite a milestone  ;)

I actually know this one, but I'll let one of our Canadian or UK members answer.  After all, they are the ones who traditionally celebrate it.

I jokingly call it the day you box up all the X-mas gifts you received but did not like, take them back to the various stores & exchange them for things you want.  Also known as National Exchange Day.

Just read "Boxing Day" on Wikipedia. I'm bringing a box to Canada so it can be filled with coins! I'm stopping at the border to get the currency changed!  :)

My first time reading a menu in Canada was quite exciting. On the menu was pasties and poontine!  :P Very erotic food choices! Actually pasties are like a meat filled pie and poontine was almost as good as it sounds. It's french fries covered with brown gravy.

::) I think your American forfathers thru' away more than tea in Boston... ;D :D ;)

The day after Christmas Day is known as Boxing Day, after the tradition of opening the alms boxes placed in churches over the Christmas season. The contents were distributed, by the "well heeled",  amongst the poor of the parish.

December 26 is also known as the Feast of St Stephen.

Only in the last century, however, has it become a holiday... 8)
