I rode old 99 to Rogue River and then East Evans Creek Road back to Touvelle Tavern to watch NASCAR this morning. I met Ron, a Vulcan rider out on his wife's Harley. He was going to Sparkplug's Campground to pick up the glasses his wife had lost when they camped there last weekend. Assured that all brands were welcome at Sparkplugs, I asked to tag along for the ride.

I got us out Kirkland road and down Blackwell to the Interstate 5 on ramp by the place we are trying to buy. Ron took the lead and we headed out 5 to Grants Pass and then turned toward California and Crescent City.

It was a nice warm day with puffy clouds and hundreds of bikes were on the road. Sparkplug has his family living on a 17 acre property with a creek through it and they rent campsites for $10 a night. He's got the old family schoolbus with an Econoline van upper story set by the main parking and a community kitchen area with pots and pans waiting. You just bring your sleeping bag or first come can take the Ti-pi with a bed. We visited for an hour or so with him and Tracey and some riders up from Brookings on a Star and a Honda then all headed home.

Ron took us up to 100 on a couple of straights and the "Flying Pig" felt a lot smoother after stretching her legs. I got to sleep at 6PM and got up at 9PM to come in to work but the ride was worth the lost sleep.
