Independence pass and Mt. Evans opened up today.  Was up on Rt. 103 and there is still snow a couple feet deep on the side of the road. Didnt go up to the peak of Mt. Evans though but I cant imagine the snow getting less deep as you go up.

Actually, as you get above timberline, much of the snow gets blown off the peaks.  You will find some very deep drifts, though.  I was over Trail Ridge Road once a couple days after they opened it.  Many places had no snow at all, while other spots had 20 - 25 foot drifts.  Sounds like about a normal year as far as getting roads open.

If you have an accident on a motorcycle, it's always your fault. Tough call, but it has to be that way. You're in the right, and dead -on a bike. The principle is not to have any accident. If you're involved in an an accident, it's because you did not anticipate. Then, by default, you failed.

Trail Ridge connects the 2 sides of Rocky mountain National Park.
