oil change

I need to change the oil in my "V", it has 3,000 mi. What type of oil is recommended? Thank you very much.

Don't use one of the energy saving 5w-30 or 10w-30 automobile oils, not good for the wet clutch, otherwise most everything else should be OK, I alway like to use a 20w-50 in my Vision, if you have the money get Yamaha's own brand and that way you know you are OK (but you will spend abit more).

Takes three quarts of oil, uses an oil filter that thank goodness Yamaha uses on several other models so it is not a rare item. Be sure you have the metal gasket on the oil drain plugg or it will drip, drip drip (I haven't fixed mine yet).

If you research oil I think you will find lots of material on oils members have used.
