You need to know the length eye to eye, the width of each eye / bushing, the stroke length, then compare those to the Vision shock.

That said, it doesn't look like you would be gaining much over the stock 82 shock other than it is newer.  There appears to be no damping adjustments on it, only preload, just like the 82.  Plus, it looks like it would be much more difficult to change the preload with this one mounted on a V - the adjustment is on the opposite end.

If you have an accident on a motorcycle, it's always your fault. Tough call, but it has to be that way. You're in the right, and dead -on a bike. The principle is not to have any accident. If you're involved in an an accident, it's because you did not anticipate. Then, by default, you failed.
