Sure but you don't have to strip them down, just take the top cap out of one. You don't even need to pull the spring out.  You can tell by the spacer, it's about 100mm long the progressives has a shorter spacer as the 400 springs are much shorter. Of the 3 400 forks I've opened they have all been the same, short standard springs.
