Here's a couple in no particular order...

Have a good battery and functioning charging system

Move the regulator rectifier where it will get air movement

Take measures to ensure the gas coming to the carbs is clean, then...

Meticulously clean the carbs - bonus points for new throttle shaft seals

Replace the rear brake stay bolts

Always have at least one hand on the bars at all times

Replace the steering neck bearings with tapered

Beware of the grumbling starter clutch monster

Service the cooling system - there a few recent posts with good info
